None of Encuentro’s work would be possible without the generous support of our allies
Originally from Mexico, Teresa was born in Sonora and grew up in Sinaloa. An immigrant herself, she brings to Encuentro an understanding of the issues facing immigrant families in the US. With 15 years of language teaching in Mexico, Teresa provides expertise in the area of ESL, particularly with the adult immigrant community. She holds an MA in Language, Literacy and Sociocultural studies and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the same area at the University of New Mexico. Teresa feels strongly identified with the critical educational approach undertaken by Encuentro and is strongly committed to working together with students to build community, leadership, and empowerment through education. Teresa also has a passion for music and participates in two local bands.
